BIO

Ruben grew up on the beaches of the Far North Coast of NSW, playing on the shoreline building sandcastles and watching his father, Phil surf. Surrounded by iconic surf locations such as Lennox Point, Byron Bay & Angourie it wasn’t long before he took to the water. It wasn’t long before he realised special talent for Longboarding and was soon competing in events along the East Coast of Australia with success, as the sport was generating a new resurgence it was a time in the sports growing history. Ruben was able to refine his surfing, practising on the boards his father was shaping in the local Longboard and Shortboard Clubs.

 With a focus to become a professional surfer it wasn't long before Ruben took to the Professional Australian Longboard Circuit at just 16 years old, and he was living out his dream and finding success in the contests. Over the past 10 years Ruben has appeared in many international magazine editorials and featured in many Longboard films from around the world. 

 When not chasing waves along the East Coast or finding some new surf craft to take to the water on Ruben is also a Professional Lifeguard and is the Head Senior Lifeguard for the Ballina Council working in the iconic surf township of Lennox Head. During the peak summer season he is also the Lifeguard Supervisor and covers the region from his home town of Evans Head to Lennox Head & Byron Bay, covering 15 patrolled beaches and 22 lifeguards. In the past 18 months Ruben has taken an alternate step from competitive surfing and is travelling to some of the worlds remote surf locations and following a free surfing lifestyle. Embracing the grass roots of surfing he is endeavouring to bring surf locations, lifestyle experiences and pure stoke to the masses through his ever growing blog.

 As the blog revolution grows the world’s top Shortboarders are taking flight and finding the wide world web as the means to the free surfer to reach the masses.
